The Garden

Sets Rose Cottage apart from all the rest

One of Rose Cottage’s best loved features, in keeping with its name, is the large, sunny, private, enclosed, mature and very beautiful back garden which has something special to offer throughout the seasons. Outdoor dining, sun-bathing, treasure hunts and bird-spotting in the Rose Cottage garden have kept many a guest young and old very happy. The garden has sea views across the fields, pretty flower beds, fruit trees, a woodland area, seating, patio area, large lawn and lots of charming touches like “Harry Trotter” the pig (not a real pig!), fairy door, barbeque and coal and wood shed and a twigwam for kids.

Inside Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage in pictures, room by room. We think it’s all about the little touches.

Sleep

Luxurious, coastal-themed tranquillity with amazing views – the Rose Cottage bedrooms are sure to relax you into holiday mode. The Rose Bedroom is a double room with a lovely sea view to the front of the cottage. The Ocean Bedroom can be set up with either one luxurious super king-size or two single beds and has a view of the beautiful rear garden. In both bedrooms you can enjoy underfloor heating, paintings by local artists, black-out curtains and high quality bedding. Up to 2 more adults can be accommodated in the fold-down sofa bed in the Garden Room. Infants are well catered for too with a travel cot and adorably cute bedding.

Lounge

At the heart of Rose Cottage is its comfortable living room, with a real fire and dual aspect windows to the front and back gardens, including sea views in both directions. To the front of Rose Cottage you can also see the Kingsbarns Distillery across the pretty fields, perhaps a local pheasant or deer and on clear days the Bell Rock lighthouse out at sea (built 1810 – the world’s oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse). Our guests also love watching the many spectacular East Neuk sunsets. The living room has all you need to keep you entertained, including TV, DVD player, telescope, local art and lots of family games and toys, books, films and local maps and information.

Relax

We think you will fall instantly in love with the Garden Room – a space to reflect, to contemplate, to unwind. Sit looking out to the back garden, watch the birds through vintage binoculars, have a relaxed breakfast or put your feet up with a complimentary evening tipple. In the Garden Room you will find the Rose Cottage “bar” of local gin and whisky, a hifi music system and our collection of golf books.

Eat

Cook up that lovely local farm produce or catch of the day, flavoured with herbs from the Rose Cottage garden, in the large dining country kitchen with its windows to the front and back. With a wood-burning stove, cooker, SMEG fridge, microwave, washer dryer, dishwasher, complimentary tea, coffee, spices, retro radio and a range of local cookery books it’s a home from home. The farmhouse style dining table comfortably seats 6 and a high chair is available for little ones. A stable-style door takes you out to the patio area in the back garden where a table for 6 allow you to dine al fresco. Local artwork adorns the walls. You’ll find a wealth of local information in our tourist info corner.

Bathe

Take a long hot bath and learn to tie your nautical knots at the same time! As well as its knotty wallpaper and coastal theme the main bathroom has a bath, over-bath shower, toilet and sink. There are luxury British toiletries (such as The Scottish Fine Soaps Company) to enjoy and underfloor heating as well as a radiator keep it cosy. Towels are provided. Rose Cottage also has an additional toilet with sink and mirror and an Isle of May theme.
